October
- Weeds are always popping up, so make sure you pull them
before they flower and go to seed. Helpful Hint: Annual
mulching will help prevent weeds. There are a few products
like Preen, which are preemergent and will stop the weed
seed from germinating.
- Winter Ornamentals like kale and cabbage have arrived!
They offer color and texture to your landscape well into
winter. Take a look around and see if your garden needs
a little pizzazz for the long winter months.
- Now that the days are cool, why wait til spring to
get out and plant? Planting trees, shrubs and perennials
now will give you and your plants a head start for next
year .
- Don't forget to plant your tulip and daffodil bulbs,
so they are ready to bloom in spring.
- Lawn looking a little sad? Do over seeding and fertilize
your lawn now before the first frost.
- With the weather cooling down, houseplants should be
brought back inside.
