April
-
We
do not always get April showers, so make sure that you
keep up with the watering needs of your plants. Pay
close attention to plants that are in containers.
-
It's time to get your vegetable garden underway! This
month you can plant potatoes and all cool weather vegetables.
It is also a great time to start herb seeds.
-
Perk up your lawn by applying a springtime fertilizer
- it will help improve the overall color and appearance.
If you have any bare spots, this is a great time to
do any over seeding.
-
April is a good month to plant your summertime bulbs
like Dahlias, Gladiolas and Lilies.
-
Re-pot any geraniums or annuals that you may have over
winter indoors. Give them a fertilizer every three weeks,
so they will be ready to set out once the weather warms
up.
-
April is an ideal time for pruning evergreen shrubs.
Do NOT cut back to bare branches because it is difficult
for the plant to send out new growth.
